Gale Updates: Microsoft 365 Integration, End of "My Account" Feature, New Default Search in InfoTrac

This is a follow-up to information I shared on OSLIST in March and June of 2016.

Most of the Gale products available from Oregon’s Statewide Database Licensing Program (SDLP), which are accessible through OSLIS, now offer Microsoft Office 365 integration. Similar to Gale’s integration with Google Drive, users may store, sync, and share files by downloading Gale content to their OneDrive accounts and easily transfer documents for use in other Microsoft tools like OneNote and Classroom.

Here is an example of a login and download page. Tips sheets with helpful screen shots for both Google Drive and Microsoft 365 are also available.

With these new tools, Gale’s My Account feature will be retired in all InfoTrac products, including PowerSearch, on August 19th.

A tip sheet for moving My Account folders to Google is available. Similar steps can be used to move folders to Microsoft Office 365.

Also on August 19th, Gale is switching the default search results display for all of its InfoTrac products to sort by relevance. The algorithm for determining relevance has also been updated to provide more weight to the currency of content. Users will still have the ability to toggle and view by newest/oldest date if they choose during their research session. For a list of InfoTrac databases, scroll to the bottom of the Gale tip sheet called Topic Finder.

Thanks to my colleague, Arlene Weible, for compiling this information.

Please let folks in your school or district know about these updates. If you have questions, please ask.

Thanks,
Jen
