May 4, 2020
Hi Folks,
Here’s a friendly reminder that on May 29th, the Kids InfoBits database will become Gale In Context: Elementary, and the interface will align more with the In Context suite of databases. The database icon will change, too, but the new one won’t be available until the go-live date. For details, read this Gale blog post. Or, participate in a Gale webinar about the Kid InfoBit enhancements on May 15th at 11 am or on June 2nd at 11:30 am Pacific. Please let elementary teachers know.
Speaking of webinars, this WebJunction page has a list of free library-related webinars for May. Don’t have a lot of time? Maybe scan the titles for something that jumps out at you. Session descriptions and registration links, which are organized by date, are available starting about halfway down the page.
I noticed that AASL’s Town Halls are not included in the WebJunction list. There will be a session every Thursday in May, and the May 7th one starts at noon Pacific and will be about collaboration and professional development. The sessions are not just for AASL members, and they are recorded for viewing later.
About offerings related to our statewide databases, Gale has a few webinars scheduled besides those about the Kids InfoBits changes, and their recorded webinars may be useful, too. Also check the LearningExpress Library calendar for offerings; search for "learningexpress” or “job” w/o quotes.
Interested in a webinar that already happened by the time you check? Follow the links, and there may be a recording.
Think others will be interested in some of these webinars? Please share.
Thanks,
Jen
