Hi Folks,

As you know, your students, staff, and you have access to a suite of Gale databases (more info) to use for research projects, to supplement lessons, etc., and central K-12 access is via the elementary and secondary Find Information pages on OSLIS.

Well, the Gale trainers are offering a special session just for Oregon library staff and classroom teachers. Please consider attending, and please help spread the word.

  • Think Outside the Gale Box: Engage Students with Escape Rooms and Choice Boards
  • Wednesday, 11/12, from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm Pacific
  • Register
  • Join us for a virtual training where you’ll discover two creative strategies to engage students with Gale resources available via OSLIS.

Part 1: Database Escape Rooms Kick things off by exploring database escape rooms—a fun, innovative way to engage learners! We’ll showcase Gale’s ready-to-use, content-specific, and blank escape rooms designed to help students dive into Gale resources. Plus, you’ll learn practical tips for creating your own escape rooms, from development to implementation.

Part 2: Choice Boards with Gale Resources Next, we’ll dive into choice boards—versatile graphic organizers that empower students to choose their learning pathways. Discover how to use Gale In Context and National Geographic Kids to build engaging choice boards that are easily adaptable and can be used effectively at all levels across subject areas. We’ll share examples, templates, and ready-to-go boards you can use immediately or customize for your classroom. And, we will share resources built specifically for both elementary and secondary Gale resources.

Can’t attend the full session? Join us whenever you can!

Questions? Please ask.

OSLIS and the Statewide Database Licensing Program are funded with a Library Services and Technology Act grant through the State Library of Oregon.
